New Mac and Linux files
#1
Hi All,

I believe that I've solved the Mac and Linux problems. There are new zip files in the Download folder, and it'd be nice if someone could try them out.

I can't not having either a Mac or Linux box, and being utterly ignorant in such matters.

Now hand me a VMS system, and I'll make it dance and boogie... ;-)

Hi All,

The nice IDL people have pointed out a problem with their routine that creates the necessary Linux script -
it outputs a DOS formatted text file, which Linux does not like.

They have provided a one line fix, and I've incorporated that and upload the new Linux64 zip file, as
of 4:30p.m. Adelaide time Wed 13th Jan 2016.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Downloaded the Mac versions.

Can't work out how to start the program - which file to do I click on as the executable??

Sorry,

Now if this was Windows, you'd fine a nice logically named file called SkippyStak.exe... ;-)

in the Mac distro there is a text file called SkippyStak_mac_Script_source.txt
which I suspect you have to run that creates pointers and links and paths and God only knows what else.

It's a plain text file - open it and see if it makes any sense to you.

Doesn't mean a great deal to me I'm afraid.

Thanks Andrew - I tried clicking on that, but couldn't work it out. Beyond my Mac skills unfortunately...

I'll see if some mates can work it out for me.

OK. I had one of the guys at work, who has Apple sauce coursing through his veins, try out the Mac distribution today.
According to him, there's an error in the automatically generated Apple Script.

Which leaves me going back to the authors of the IDL language, asking "What gives...?"

This I have done, and now one waits. They're pretty good though, and I generally get a next day reply
which isn't bad considering the Time Zone difference between Boulder in Colorado and Adelaide, Australia.
